I was often left wandering how some photographs come about and the processes that the photographers use to create them work. This was no different.
The ‘exploding’ still life shows the component parts of an object, photographed and placed into the order that they all fit together to make the final object. (I hope that makes sense) I know what I am tying to say here anyway!!
So I had been thinking about it for a few weeks and the way that would be best to approach this. With a lot of still life photography, its all about the thought process and then the execution. How would I photograph it all so it looks right? Both perspectively and proportionately. There was only one thing for it, and that was to test how I thought it could all work and fit together, starting with something simple of course. You can’t run before you can walk can you!!
And here it is. Surprisingly, I think the few weeks it took me to establish how I was going to do this had worked. I’m pretty pleased with the result here and its something that I’m looking forward to doing a little bit more of with some more slightly complex objects. Open to ideas on those by the way!! Maybe I’ll change my mind on them the next time I shoot something like this and end up pulling my hair out. But for now, I’m looking forward to doing some more!!
